Vuguru to Distribute "Prom Queen" Web Series in France, Japan

Beverly Hills, Calif. - Former Disney head Michael Eisner's Tornante Company said on Tuesday that it has signed international distribution deals for its Vuguru new media production studio's "Prom Queen" Web series. Cyber-Group Animation will offer the series dubbed in French for wireless mobile, broadband, TV and home video, while Rights Entertainment will distribute the series in Japanese, as well as produce a localized version. Tornante said "Prom Queen" was viewed over 15 million times during its original run, while the spin-off, "Prom Queen: Summer Heat," is approaching 2.5 million views.

Los Angeles - Vuguru, the media firm founded by former Disney head Michael Eisner, has signed deals to expand distribution of the spinoff to its original online series "Prom Queen" to a range of new video-sharing sites, Variety reported. In addition to MySpace, YouTube, Veoh and Verizon's V CAST, "Prom Queen: Summer Heat" will now also be offered via Bebo, Revver, Blinkx, Imeem, VideoEgg and StarStyle.com.

Seattle - Online retailer Amazon.com announced on Monday that it has partnered with Microsoft on a project that will offer independent films for sale on-demand on next-generation HD DVD discs.

Michael Eisner Today MySpace announced a deal with Michael Eisner’s new online video studio, Vuguru, that will make the site the first outlet for his highly anticipated original series Prom Queen.  The show, intended for Millennials, will launch on MySpace 12 hours before other outlets like YouTube and Veoh, an online video site Eisner also owns.  Prom Queen premieres at 7pm EST on April 1.
