Tel Aviv, Israel - Exent Technologies, a developer of in-game advertising, this week introduced software that allows firms to insert in-game ads without the need to access a video game's source code, enabling publishers to place ads in games that were not originally designed to support them. Israel-based Exent said the technology also allows revenue generation from pirated copies of video games, and from game demos.

Natick, Mass. - SecureMedia, a provider of digital rights management technologies, announced on Tuesday that its Encryptonite system will be used to protect video transferred over Reeltime, a new Internet-based video-on-demand service in Australia. Reeltime, a white label service to be offered by ISPs, has already secured licensing deals for movies from studios including Fox, Sony, MGM, United Artists and Columbia Pictures.

Barcelona - Korea's Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that it has signed a two-year agreement with Handango, which will become the exclusive provider of mobile content in Europe for Samsung's line of smartphones. Handango will provide content including ringtones and games to Samsung's Fun Club Software Store.

Englewood, Colo. - Following the lead of rival DirecTV and cable companies Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Cox, EchoStar Communications, operator of the DISH Network satellite TV service, on Wednesday announced a new "family-friendly" programming tier. The "DishFAMILY" service will offer 40 channels -- including Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, Food Network, CNN, Fox News and Trinity Broadcasting Network -- for $19.95 per month. The family-friendly service offerings come after some in Congress have pressed cable and satellite companies to offer a la carte programming, in part so that parents and others may choose not to subscribe to channels they feel offer inappropriate programming.

New York - IMG Worldwide, a sports, entertainment and media company, announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with Microsoft's MSN Video and Sprint to provide online and mobile TV coverage of the Fall 2006 Olympus Fashion Week in New York. IMG's site will provide live streaming of Bryant Park runway shows, while MSNVideo.com will offer on-demand highlights from all 67 shows. Sprint will offer subscribers with compatible handsets behind-the-scenes video and interviews streamed to their phones.

Raleigh, N.C. - Decisionmark, a developer of digital TV broadcasting software, announced on Wednesday that it partnered with Capitol Broadcasting's Raleigh, North Carolina-based CBS affiliate WRAL-TV, to provide the station with technology to retransmit its broadcast signal over the Internet. The TitanCast software was developed so that local broadcasters could syndicate on the Internet without technically running afoul of affiliate agreements that grant broadcasters an exclusive geographic license covering their signal area.
