Washington - XM Satellite Radio, a provider of satellite radio service to more than 7 million subscribers, said on Monday that it will launch a special channel to coincide with the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. The company said that its "Radio Hanukkah" channel, to air Dec. 15-23, will feature a broad spectrum of Jewish music and conversation.

New York - Southern California public radio station KCRW's online audience has now surpassed its terrestrial radio audience, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Menlo Park, Calif. - Podcast distributor PodTech Network announced this week the launch of a new podcast hosted by Jason Calcanis, the founder of Weblogs and Rising Tide Studios. The weekly CalcanisCast podcast will feature Calcanis' and his guests' insights on new media and technology trends, and launches with GoDaddy.com as a founding sponsor. The podcast will provide over $100,000 in first year scholarships to Brooklyn's Bay Ridge Preparatory School.

St. Paul, Minn. - American Public Media, the nation's second largest producer and distributor of public radio programs, announced that it has expanded the number of programs it will make available for download as podcasts. The company launched full-program podcasts for "Marketplace," "Word for Word" and "American RadioWorks," and plans to add "The Splendid Table" in November to a podcast lineup that also includes its "The Writer's Almanac," "Speaking of Faith" and "Sound Opinions" programs.

New York City – After ten months at subscription-based Sirius Satellite Radio, Howard Stern, the self-proclaimed “King of All Media,” is launching two days of free live online access to his four hour show on October 25 and 26. The offer is being made to promote the new Sirius internet radio service, which will offer 75 CD-quality channels for a monthly subscription fee of $12.95, the company said in a press release.

New York - Air America Radio, a liberal talk and news radio network that features the comedian Al Franken, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The network had in recent weeks denied rumors that it would file for bankruptcy. Jaime Horn, an Air America spokeswoman, told the Associated Press that the filing became necessary after negotiations with a long-standing creditor had deteriorated. Los Angeles - Motorola announced that it has added a number of public radio programs to its iRadio service for mobile phones. New programs from iRadio's 600-channel offering -- currently in consumer trials in several U.S. cities -- include NPR's podcasts of "Story of the Day" and "All Songs Considered," American Public Media's "Marketplace" and Public Radio International's "The World."
