Mexican Soccer Match to be First RealD Live 3D Broadcast

Los Angeles - RealD, a provider of digital 3D cinema projection systems, plans to produce its first RealD LIVE event with a real-time 3D broadcast of a match between rival Mexican soccer teams Chivas de Guadalajara and Club America on Sunday. The 3D broadcast of "El Clasico" will be available in Cinepolis theaters in Monterey and Guadalajara, Mexico, and in the U.S. at the AMC Burbank Town Center 6.

Digital 3D Theaters Bring 71% of "My Bloody Valentine" Sales

Los Angeles - RealD, a provider of digital 3D cinema projection systems, said on Monday that its theaters brought in 71% of the total box office for Lionsgate's "My Bloody Valentine 3D," which made $27 million in its first week of release. The company also stated that opening week 3D screens for the film outperformed 2D screens by 6 to 1.

NFL to Test Digital 3D Broadcast to Theaters in 3 Cities

Burbank, Calif. - The National Football League (NFL) announced on Monday that it will provide the first live, digital 3D broadcast of a pro football game on Dec. 4 to audiences at theaters in three cities.

RealD to Equip Up to 1,500 Cinemark Screens with Digital 3D

Los Angeles - RealD, a provider of digital 3D movie theater projection systems, announced on Tuesday that movie exhibitor Cinemark Holdings will add up to 1,500 RealD 3D screens to its circuit. Cinemark operates 408 theaters and over 4,600 screen in 38 states and 12 countries including Mexico. RealD said the deal will put it past the 5,000 screen installation mark worldwide.
