RichRelevance Gets $12.5M for E-commerce Recommendations

San Francisco - RichRelevance, a provider of personalization and product recommendation tools for e-commerce websites, has raised $12.5 million in its second round of venture capital financing, VentureBeat reported.

All Media Guide Launches "Tapestry" Playlist Recommendation Service

Tokyo - All Media Guide, a provider of informational databases on music, movies and other topics, announced on Monday that it teamed with Japan's Rainbow Partners to launch Tapestry, a playlist recommendation engine designed for use in online music stores, mobile services and consumer electronics devices. The service offers playlist recommendations based on over 6,200 musical, genres, styles, themes, moods, instruments, years and other descriptors.

Cendant Sues Amazon.com Over Patented Recommendation Software

Wilmington, Del. -- Online retail giant Amazon.com has been sued for patent infringement by a company that claims its service that recommends goods and services to customers based on their previous purchase history is infringing on patented technology. New York-based Cendant, a large provider of travel and real estate services, sued Seattle-based Amazon.com on Oct. 29, claiming features such as the company's "Customers who bought this book also bought…" feature and other recommendation technologies infringe on its "370" patent. In its suit, Cendant is seeking a jury trial and an injunction against Amazon's use of its patented technology.
