Sunnyvale, Calif. - Video game publisher Activision on Tuesday announced details of the downloadable songs and other content for developer Red Octane's "Guitar Hero II" Xbox 360 air guitar game. In addition to over 70 new tracks for the game, the Xbox Live Marketplace will allow gamers to unlock achievement points, and download themes and picture packs, and well as track their high scores on an online leaderboard. Santa Monica, Calif. - Video game publisher Activision has announced plans to acquire Sunnyvale, Calif.-based game developer Red Octane, creators of the "Guitar Hero" game franchise. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Activision believes the acquisition will give it the lead in the fast-growing genre of music-based gaming. "Guitar Hero" features a guitar-shaped controller and challenges gamers to play along with licensed tracks from artists including David Bowie, Ozzy Osbourne and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
