Chicago Manual of Style Launches Online Edition

Chicago - The University of Chicago on Thursday announced the launch of an online, subscription-based version of its Chicago Manual of Style. The online grammar manual, used by journalists, writers, academics and others, will be available in a 30-day free trial, after which point it will cost $25 for the first year and $30 annually thereafter. Bulk subscriptions will also be offered for institutions.

Univ. of California to Digitize Libraries Via Google Book Search

Mountain View, Calif. - Google announced on Wednesday that the University of California has joined its Google Book Search project, which will digitize books from libraries at UC and fellow partners including the University of Michigan, the New York Public Library, and Stanford, Harvard and Oxford universities.

Franklin Ships Merriam-Webster Dictionary & MP3 Player

Burlington, N.J. - Franklin Electronic Publishers on Thursday introduced its Merriam-Webster Dictionary & MP3 Player. The $70 MWD-480 digital audio player includes 274,000 definitions and features an SD memory card expansion slot.

N.Y. Times: Wikipedia Places Restrictions on "Anyone Can Edit" Policy

New York - The New York Times recently reported on changes made at online encyclopedia Wikipedia that eliminate the ability of any user to edit certain "protected" entries.
