Mountain View, Calif. - LinkedIn, the operator of an online professional network with more than 42 million members, on Wednesday named Jeff Weiner as its new CEO, replacing company founder Reid Hoffman, who will remain executive chairman.

Menlo Park, Calif. - MashLogic, a developer of technology that provides contextual information about websites, has raised $500,000 in angel funding from investors SoftTech VC, About.com founder Scott Kurnit, LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman and Wikia CEO Gil Penchina, TechCrunch reported.

San Francisco - Reid Hoffman, the founder of business-focused online social network LinkedIn, will reassume the position of chief executive, replacing Dan Nye, the former executive at Intuit who was appointed to the position in early 2007, TechCrunch reported. Meanwhile, former Yahoo executive Jeff Weiner was appointed interim president of LinkedIn, which claims 11.2 monthly unique users. Hoffman will take over in January for Nye, who will remain an adviser to the company.
