Portland, Ore. - The top-grossing films of 2006-2007 in the U.S., when including box office sales, DVD and VHS sales and rental estimates, and video-on-demand viewing, were "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" (Disney), "Transformers" (Paramount) and "Cars" (Disney), according to data compiled by Rentrak. The only R-rated film to crack the top 20 was Warner Bros.' "300," while the majority were either action or family films rated PG-13. Rentak tracks data from 51 million set-top boxes, more than 10,000 retail and 12,000 home video locations, and 35,000 movie screens across North America and other countries around the world. Portland, Ore. - Rentrak, a provider of video-on-demand ratings data, said that it has partnered with Internet audience measurement firm Hiwire on a pilot of a mobile TV measurement service. Oregon-based Rentrak will provide data on total viewers of both programming and video ads on mobile phones in Las Vegas, beginning this summer. Bebo, a UK social networking site, today announced the appointment of Angel Gambino to the newly-created position of Vice President, Music. In her new role, Ms. Gambino will be responsible for helping artists and labels use Bebo's base of 31 million users worldwide, enabling them to extend their reach and form one-to-one relationships with their audience. She will also have responsibility for devising partnerships between artists and brands and retailers.

Carol Hinnant joins Rentrak Corporation as its VP of Business Development, OnDemand Essentials. Hinnant will report to Hetzel, SVP, OnDemand Essentials and was previously served as VP of Sales and Marketing for Q Television Network.

Portland, Ore. - Rentrak, a provider of audience data for media, entertainment, retail, advertising and manufacturing clients, on Monday introduced a new service that will let advertisers gauge impressions from their on-demand ads placed on cable TV and broadband systems. The AdEssentials Traker service will provide household-level information, including day part viewing data and demographics to the zip code level. Oregon-based Rentrak's customers include Comcast, Cablevision, Charter and Insight, which collectively reach over 50% of all U.S. video-on-demand households.
