Analysis: Blackberry Benefits from iPhone Hype

Authored by Robin Goad on June 18, 2008 - 6:34am.

A lot of the iPhone launch coverage last week included references to the alternatives to Apple’s latest mobile phone. It looks like the competitor that benefited most from these comparisons in Britain was Blackberry – ironic, considering that many are touting the new 3G iPhone as a ‘blackberry-killer’. As you can see from the table chart below, UK Internet searches for ‘blackberry’ reached their highest ever level last week.

Authored by Scott Karp on December 30, 2007 - 7:11pm.

Google has been quietly rolling out social features across all of its services based on Gmail contacts. For people over 30 (and probably even over 25) email IS the social graph.

This weekend we drove from our home in Leesburg, VA to visit my wife’s family in Staten Island, NY. Along the way, we passed through rural areas of Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey. I had my laptop with me, which we used while we were driving. I used my Blackberry 8830 as a tethered modem, and we enjoyed UNINTERRUPTED high speed internet access.

Tales of Entrepreneurship from the Founders of Apple, Hotmail, Blogger, RIM, Tivo, Flickr

Authored by Guy Kawasaki on March 8, 2007 - 10:57am.

This is a picture of my copy of Founders at Work: Stories of Startups’ Early Days. It has broken my record for the “book with most stickies.” My system is that the stickies on the top edge are ideas for my next book, and the ones on the side are ideas for this blog. As you can see, it’s a gold mine for great stories about entrepreneurship. Here is a list of some of my favorites. The major lesson: Entrepreneurship is all about tactics, hootspah, not knowing that things are not done “this way,” and making do with not enough money.
