Facebook Suspends "Top Friends" Application After Exploit

San Francisco - Facebook has suspended third party developer Slide's "Top Friends" application, after an independent programmer found a way to exploit the application so that anyone could view the birthdays, gender and relationship status of any Facebook user, as well as who is in their list of Top Friends, CNET News.com reported. The "Super Wall" application, developed by RockYou, was also found to have a similar exploit, but has already been fixed by Facebook. Before the Top Friends application was suspended, CNET was able to use the exploit on profiles of several Facebook executives, the wife of Google co-founder Larry Page, and one seemingly belonging to Paris Hilton.

San Mateo, Calif. - RockYou, a developer of social applications and widgets that enable photo slideshows, glitter text, voicemail and other features, has raised $1 million in new financing from Doll Capital Management (DCM), VentureBeat reported.

Widget Provider RockYou Inks Deals With Snocap, Nettwerk

San Mateo, Calif. - RockYou, a developer and distributor of Web widgets, announced that it has partnered with online music firms Snocap, Fliptrack, Pump Audio and Nettwerk Records. San Mateo, Calif.-based RockYou said that it now serves over 360 million free music plays each month on existing widgets, such as Web photo slideshows added to social networks and blogs. The deals will allow users of RockYou widgets to include select tracks controlled by Snocap, Fliptrack, Pump Audio and Nettwerk as background music for slideshows and other widgets. RockYou will also allow for the creation of Snocap MyStores on its site, so users can instantly purchase songs.

San Mateo, Calif. - Rock You, a developer of Web-based widgets such as photo slideshows, glitter text and voicemail accessories, said on Wednesday that it has raised an undisclosed amount in its second round of funding, led by Partech International.
