Saratoga, Calif. - Roku, a maker of Internet-connected set-top boxes, on Tuesday introduced two new HD-capable models, and new pricing for its standard model. The $99 Roku HD player and $129 Roku HD-XR support HD-quality video and audio, while the standard model Roku SD player will now sell for $79.The devices can deliver content directly from partners including Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand and MLB.TV.

Saratoga, Calif. - Roku, the maker of a $99 broadband-connected TV set-top box, has raised $8.4 million in new venture capital financing from Menlo Ventures, Contentinople reported, citing a regulatory filing, and also launched streaming Major League Baseball games on its platform.

Seattle - Roku, the maker of a $99 broadband-connected TV set-bop box, on Tuesday added the ability to purchase and download 40,000 titles from Amazon'com's (NASD: AMZN) Amazon Video On Demand to the device for viewing on a television. Roku owners can also stream Netflix titles on the device.

Amazon Video on Demand to Add Roku Player Support

Seattle - Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN) on Monday that it plans to make downloads from its Amazon Video on Demand service accessible on the Roku Digital Video Player. The $99 Roku Player set-top, which already supports playback of Netflix streaming titles, will soon also gain access to the 40,000 movies and TV show downloads available for rent or purchase from Amazon.

Los Gatos, Calif. - Online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) on Tuesday introduced the Netflix Player, a $100 set-top box made by Roku that lets subscribers stream some of the company's library of films and TV episodes directly to their televisions. The Roku device currently offers access to 10,000 titles, or about 10% of Netflix's total catalog.
