Osaka, Japan - Japanese consumer electronics firm Sharp on Wednesday announced plans to introduce a Blu-ray Disc recorder that sports a 1-terabyte hard drive, capable of holding up to 127 hours of HD video. The $2,615 device is slated to go on sale in Japan on Dec. 1. Toshiba has already introduced an HD DVD recorder that features a terabyte of storage. Tokyo - NTT DoCoMo, the largest mobile network in Japan, on Monday introduced a new handset from Mitsubishi that features a motion sensor for use in controlling action in mobile games, Reuters reported. Set to ship next month in Japan, the D904i lets users swing the phone like a sword or tennis racket, similar to the remote for Nintendo's Wii video game console. Huntington Beach, Calif. -- Japanese electronics manufacturer Sharp has announced the release of its Sharp LL-151-3D display, a 15-inch monitor that can display 3D images without the need for special glasses. The monitor uses a parallax barrier to separate two distinct displays, which are skewed slightly so that the eye believes it is viewing a true 3D image. The $1,499 display may also be easily switched between 2D and 3D views. Sharp said that the display is targeted at markets including video games, life sciences and design.

Tokyo -- Japanese electronics firm Sharp has announced that next month it will ship a notebook PC capable of displaying real 3D images without the need of special glasses. Responding to demand from 3D content creators for a device that will showcase their designs, the PC-RD3D will combine dual LCD screens separated by a "parallax barrier" that may be switched on and off so images may be rendered in either 2D or 3D. Sharp has demoed a prototype of the device running the PC game title, "Quake," and sees it also being used in medical and educational environments. The PC-RD3D will be marketed in the U.S. after its release in Japan on Oct. 27.
