New York-based Ziff Davis Acquires Developer Shed

New York - Ziff Davis Enterprise, a New York-based media company for the technology industry, has acquired Developer Shed, an Ohio-based network of websites for IT developers. Jonathan Caputo, founder and chief CEO of Developer Shed, will assume the role of COO and president of Internet Operations of the new entity. The merger occurs simultaneously with the completion of Ziff Davis Enterprise's spin out from Ziff Davis Media.

Reuters To Shed 3,000 Jobs After $661 Million Loss

London -- Reuters, the world's largest provider of financial information, on Monday reported a record loss of $661 million (394 million pounds) and announced another 3,000 jobs cuts. Reuters has been hit especially hard by falling stock markets. Many of its customers -- such as investment bankers, traders and other financial institutions -- have cut back on its services. The company's shares have fallen 70 percent over the past year. FT: Reuters To Restructure, Shed 1,000 Jobs

London -- Reuters, the troubled financial news and information provider, will next week announce plans to focus on its core information services and cut more than 1,000 jobs, according to a report in Friday's Financial Times. The paper said that Reuters will announce cutbacks on technology in its latest attempt to rebuild profits and sales in the financial services industry. The 151-year-old company has already shed 2,000 workers in an effort to cut losses. Reuters declined comment on the report in the Financial Times.
