Foundation 9 Entertainment Acquires Atari's Shiny Game Studio

Los Angeles - Independent game developer Foundation 9 Entertainment announced on Monday that it has acquired the non-game assets of Atari's Shiny Entertainment studio. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Under the deal, the development team at Shiny will remain intact and co-locate with Foundation 9's The Collective studio in 2007. Founded in 1993, Newport Beach, Calif.-based Shiny's titles include two games based on "The Matrix" film franchise, and "Earthworm Jim." Foundation 9, whose studios include The Collective, Backbone Entertainment, Pipeworks, ImaginEngine and Digital Eclipse, is currently in development on more than 20 titles, including "Death Jr.," "Dirty Harry" and "Sonic Rivals."
