Activision Stockholders Approve Vivendi Games Merger

Santa Monica, Calif. - Video game publisher Activision (NASD: ATVI) has announced that its shareholders have approved its proposed $1.7 billion merger with Vivendi Games, with 92% voting in favor of the transaction.

Los Angeles - Vivendi Games announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Chile-based Wanako Games, the largest game development studio in Latin America.

Vivendi's Sierra Releases "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown" for Wii

Los Angeles - Vivendi Games' Sierra Entertainment on Tuesday shipped its "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown" title for the Nintendo Wii -- based on the 20th Century Fox film -- to retailers. Versions of the game for PlayStation 2, Xbox, DS and other platforms have so far sold over 1.3 million units, Vivendi said.

Sierra to Ship "Scarface: The World Is Yours" on Oct. 8

Los Angeles - Sierra Entertainment, a unit of Vivendi Games, said on Friday that it will ship its "Scarface: The World Is Yours" title, based on the classic 1983 gangster film, for PlayStation 2, Xbox and the PC to retailers on Oct. 8. A version for the Sony PSP, "Scarface: Money. Power. Respect.," will ship later in October.

Sierra Entertainment to Publish "The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning"

Los Angeles - Sierra Entertainment, a unit of Vivendi Games, announced on Monday that it will publish "The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning" for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance and DS in October 2006. Developed by Krome Studios and Amaze Entertainment, the game will feature the voice talent of Hollywood actors including Elijah Wood, David Spade and Gary Oldman.

Sierra Entertainment to Publish "Crash Boom Bang" for Nintendo DS

Los Angeles - Sierra Entertainment, a publishing label of Vivendi Games, said on Wednesday that it will publish "Crash Boom Bang" for Nintendo DS in October. Developed by Japan's Dimps, the titles includes 40 multiplayer mini-games featuring characters from the Crash Bandicoot series.
