Los Angeles - Simmons Lathan Media Group, a company co-founded by Def Jam founder Russell Simmons, announced on Monday that its video-on-demand channel featuring urban and hip-hop content will launch as a free service on cable TV provider Comcast's service later this week. The DoD service will include mix tapes and video mix shows; documentary series; feature-length films; and other urban-themed content whose theme will change monthly. Los Angeles-based DoD said that advertisers including Coca-Cola, General Motors and Reebok have signed on to target ads to viewers of the free service.
