Online Games Firm SkillJam Acquires WorldWinner for $23 Million

Newton, Mass. - SkillJam, a Los Angeles-based provider of "skill-gaming" technology and unit of FUN Technologies, has acquired WorldWinner.com, a Massachusetts-based online game company, for $23 million. WorldWinner.com hosts more than 10 million games and awards millions of dollars in prizes every month, with games in five categories: cards, words, arcade, strategy and sports. Last year, the company had revenue of $10.67 million, a loss of $680,000 million and net assets of $3.9 million, the company said.

SkillJam to Host $1 Million Casual Games Contest

Los Angeles - Casual game publisher SkillJam Technologies announced on Monday plans to host a $1 million Skill Games World Championship. Qualifiers on SkillJam.com and partner sites including AOL Games, GSN, MSN Games, RealNetworks and Virgin Games -- a network of 9 million registered users -- will be flown to Los Angeles for the finals in 2006. Titles in the skill games tournament will include "Bejeweled 2," "Solitaire" and "Zuma."
