P2P Monetization Firm Skyrider Raises $5 Million

Mountain View, Calif. - Skyrider, a developer of monetization technology for peer-to-peer networks, has raised $5 million in new financing, from previous investors Sequoia Capital, Charles River Ventures and Velocity Interactive Group, VentureBeat reports.

Mountain View, Calif. - Skyrider, a developer of a new peer-to-peer networking platform, said on Tuesday that it has raised $12 million in its third round of funding, led by ComVentures. Previous investors Sequoia Capital and Charles River Venture Partners also participated in the round, which increased the company's total backing to $20 million. Mountain View, Calif.-based Skyrider's platform allows businesses to promote the commercialization of P2P networks through advertising supported content distribution, and targeted marketing.

Skyrider Introduces Peer-to-Peer Networking Platform

Mountain View, Calif. - Skyrider on Thursday officially announced the launch of its new peer-to-peer networking platform. The company's first product, which it will announce in the fall, will allow both businesses and consumers to utilize file-sharing to distribute and monetize media content. Founded in 2003, Mountain View, Calif.-based Skyrider has received an undisclosed sum of initial funding from Sequoia Capital and Charles River Ventures. The company also said it recently named Ed Kozel, formerly a managing director at private advisory services firm Integrated Finance, Ltd., as its new chief executive.
