Warner Bros. TV Shows Coming to TiVo, Dailymotion, Other Sites

Burbank, Calif. - Warner Bros. Television Group (NYSE: TWX) announced on Thursday that it has signed deals to syndicate content from its new ad-supported TheWB.com and KidsWB.com broadband sites through video distributors Dailymotion, Joost, Sling Media, TiVo and Veoh. The partner channels are slated to launch in mid-September, and offer full-length episodes. The deals follow similar video syndication pacts with AOL and Facebook. Warner Bros. said it also plans to launch original series on TheWB.com, including "Sorority Forever," produced by McG and Big Fantastic.

Sling Media to Add BlackBerry Support for Place-Shifting Software

Las Vegas - EchoStar Holding Corp.'s (NASD: SATS) Sling Media, a developer of media place-shifting devices and technology, announced on Friday that it will offer a version of its software compatible with BlackBerry smartphones later this year. The SlingPlayer Mobile software will enable Slingbox owners to shuttle their home TV channels, recorded programs and other media to their BlackBerry devices.

BitGravity Launches Content Delivery Network; Signs Sling Media

Burlingame, Calif. - BitGravity on Monday announced the launch of its new content delivery network optimized for video and rich media, and said it has signed over 50 customers, including Sling Media, the maker of content place-shifting devices. Burlingame, Calif.-based BitGravity is privately funded. "Media companies are experiencing a technology barrier; they know in theory they can build applications online in unforeseen ways, but in practice, the current CDN infrastructure is too limiting to realize their vision," said Perry Wu, CEO and co-founder of BitGravity.

Englewood, Colo. - EchoStar Communications, operator of the DISH Network satellite TV service, has announced that it will pay $380 million to acquire Sling Media, a developer of TV "place-shifting" technology that lets users access premium home TV channels while on the go from Internet-connected devices.

Los Angeles - Sling Media, a provider of TV place-shifting technology that lets consumers access their premium home TV channels while on the go from Internet-connected devices, has partnered with DirecTV to make NFL game telecasts available to its users, PaidContent.org reported. The deal will allow streaming of NFL games each Sunday from DirecTV boxes through a Slingbox device to computers or other Internet-ready devices. DirecTV parent company Liberty Media's chairman John Malone is an investor in Sling Media. Sling also signed a deal to allow its users to stream NHL games in June.

Bay Area CBS Affiliate Deploys Sling Media Video Technology

San Francisco - KPIX-TV, a local CBS affiliate in San Francisco, said on Tuesday that it has implemented technology from Sling Media to deliver live, remote broadcasts for its viewers. The station has deployed Slingbox's technology, along with 3G wireless data and 28 video cameras, so that live feeds from Bay Area bridges, major thoroughfares and airports are available for live viewing on the CBS 5 website.

San Francisco - ATEL Ventures said on Tuesday that it will provide $5.0 million in equipment lease financing to San Mateo, Calif.-based Sling Media, a developer of technology that allows users to access their home TV channels from any Internet-connected device. Sling Media said that the financing will allow it to broaden its existing product line, support its growing customer base and accelerate its growth.

The $249 Slingbox Pro features HD support, and the ability to beam content from a digital video recorder, satellite/cable box, DVD player, multi-disc changer or video camera to an outside location. The $179 Slingbox AV drops support for HD, and connections to DVD players or video cameras; while the Slingbox TUNER, also $179, allows users to connect via a cable modem and access premium channels and recorded programs while away without interfering with other home TVs.
