WSJ: Dell’s Smartphone Is Coming This Year

Round Rock, TX - Computer maker Dell is looking to enter the smartphone market with phones based on Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating systems, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Handango to Provide Mobile Content for Samsung Smartphones

Barcelona - Korea's Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that it has signed a two-year agreement with Handango, which will become the exclusive provider of mobile content in Europe for Samsung's line of smartphones. Handango will provide content including ringtones and games to Samsung's Fun Club Software Store.

Tiger Telematics Acquires Integra, Plans Smartphone "Bizmondo"

London -- Tiger Telematics, the Florida-based electronics firm behind the Gizmondo multifunctional handheld video game console, announced on Thursday that it has acquired U.K.-based Integra, a developer of business integration software, and will include its technology in a new smartphone version of its device called the Bizmondo. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Tiger's Gizmondo Europe unit recently released its Gizmondo console -- which includes GPS, GPRS, MP3 and MPEG-4 movie support in addition to playing games -- in Europe, and is slated to ship the device to the U.S. in the first quarter of 2005. Tiger said the Bizmondo will include all of these features in addition to Integra's AltioLive software, which provides real-time remote access to multiple functions like financial services information, corporate applications, email and messaging. Separately, Gizmondo Europe said on Thursday that it has signed with United Electronics SL to distribute the Gizmondo in Spain and Portugal, for a minimum of 30,000 units.
