snakes2So, the numbers are in. Snakes on a Plane underperformed at the Box Office during its first weekend with an estimated $15.3 million gross including $1.4 million in Thursday night previews. Given all the Internet buzz and the media attention given to its original Web 2.0 marketing tactics, including encouraging user-generated art, the studio New Line was reportedly expecting at least $20 million and hoping for as much as $30 million.

Foster City, Calif. - New Line Cinema announced on Monday that it partnered with on-demand e-commerce service CafePress.com to allow fans to design their own merchandise for its upcoming film, "Snakes on a Plane."
