Universal Music, Moderati Debut Romplr Fan Remix iPhone App

San Francisco - Universal Music's Interscope Geffen A&M label group said on Tuesday that it has partnered with mobile entertainment firm Moderati to launch Romplr, an iPhone application that lets fans create their own remixes and share them with friends. The first artist to use Romplr is Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, whose tracks "Crank That," "Hey You There" and "Turn My Swag On" will be available for $4.99 on the service. Fans will be able to share their mixes through Facebook Connect, email or on Romplr.com.

Interscope Artist Soulja Boy to Star in Animated Web Series

Los Angeles - Universal Music/Interscope Records on Tuesday said on Tuesday that it will launch an animated series featuring platinum-selling hip-hop artist Soulja Boy. The label tapped Buddy System Studios ("Robot Chicken") to produce the series, which will combine live action and animation and is set to debut in late January.

Rapper Soulja Boy to Get Branded Xbox 360 Game

Los Angeles - Hip-hop artist Soulja Boy has signed a deal to develop a branded video game for the Xbox 360 that will launch in 2009, according to an interview on Complex.com cited by Kotaku. The rapper reportedly got calls from game developers after the challenge he posted to fans to play games like "Halo 3" and "Call of Duty 4" against him on Xbox Live was picked up by the gaming press.
