New York - 2K Sports, a unit of video game publisher Take-Two Interactive, announced on Thursday that it partnered with Matador Records and others to provide tracks for the soundtrack to its "Major League Baseball 2K6" title for Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, PSP and GameCube. The tracks from Matador artists including Interpol, Pavement, Mogwai and Yo La Tengo will also be featured on 2K Beats, an Internet radio station created to promote the release of the game in the spring.

Los Angeles - Vivendi Universal Games said on Tuesday that it has partnered with News Corp.'s MySpace social networking site on a nationwide talent contest that will place an unsigned artist's song in its upcoming "Scarface: The World Is Yours" video game. The winner will also be an opening act at a VU Games concert, to be held in May during the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Separately, VU Games' Sierra Entertainment publishing label on Tuesday said it shipped its "SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate" PC game expansion pack to retailers.

San Francisco - INgrooves, a digital distributor of mainly electronic music label artists, announced on Tuesday that it has licensed 28 hip-hop and electronic music tracks from its catalog to Japanese video game publisher Capcom, for use in the company's "Final Fight: Streetwise" game for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. San Francisco-based INgrooves also released the game's soundtrack today, on services including iTunes.

Las Vegas - Recording artist Brandy has signed a deal to provide her voice and likeness to a video game produced by Los Angeles-based Matty/Markus Games, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Set for release in the first quarter of 2007, the as-yet-untitled game will feature an in-game soundtrack and separate CD soundtrack developed by Brandy. "An original soundtrack from artists that we build games around will be part of our release model at Matty/Markus Games," Matty/Markus founder Matty Rich told THR. The company is also collaborating with hip-hop artist the Game on a racing title for Sony's PSP handheld, slated to launch in the fall.

Los Angeles - lVivendi Universal Games announced on Friday that the in-game soundtrack for its "50 Cent: Bulletproof" game will feature over 150 music tracks, including 13 unreleased and 100 instrumental tracks. Featured artists include 50 Cent and G Unit members Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and Tony Yayo, in addition to producer Sha Money XL, who will contribute exclusive remixes. Redwood City, Calif. -- Video game developer Electronic Arts said on Thursday that it partnered with Sony Music to include pre-release songs in its new "NFL Street" game, two of which will also be released as music videos that feature actual gameplay footage. The two tracks will also be released to radio as singles. NFL Street, which was released today for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube, features a soundtrack scored by the X-ecutioners, as well as licensed tracks from Sony Music artists including Korn featuring NAS, Killer Mike, Lil Flip, Lostprophets and Wylde Bunch. As part of the partnership, select Sony artist CDs sold at several retailers will include a playable demo CD of NFL Street. "This project gives us the perfect opportunity to combine some of the most exciting artists working today with the fast growing -- and highly influential -- world of gaming," said Don Ienner, president of Sony Music U.S.

Redwood City, Calif. -- Game developer Electronic Arts announced on Friday that the soundtrack to its "NBA Live 2003" video game has achieved RIAA platinum status, becoming the first video game soundtrack to sell over one million copies. Released last August, the album features tracks from hip-hop artists including Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes.
