New York - College basketball fans going online Monday and Tuesday to fill out brackets for the NCAA Men's Div. I Basketball Tournament kicking off this week spread themselves fairly evenly across ESPN.com, Yahoo Sports and CBS SportsLine.com, according to data from Hitwise.

CBS SportsLine Adds Features to NCAA March Madness on Demand

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. - CBS SportsLine on Tuesday announced the launch of its NCAA March Madness on Demand service, which will again this year offer free online streaming of all 56 games from the early rounds of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship broadcast by CBS Sports. Last year, the company served over 19 million streams. This year's service will feature a 50% larger video screen, and also for the first time offer live audio streaming of Westwood One's radio broadcasts of the tournament's first two rounds. A new, live halftime show produced for MMOD, sponsored by AT&T, will feature SportsLine's Jason Horowitz paired with a college coach.

Amp'd Mobile to Broadcast Live NBA, NCAA Games to Cell Phones

New York - Sirius Satellite Radio, a digital radio service with over 5 million subscribers, on Thursday announced a new line-up of programming on its dedicated NBA Radio channel. In addition to offering 1,000 regular season games, as well as all playoffs and finals games, programs on the channel will include "Tip Off," hosted by Frank Isola and Rich Ackerman; "Full Court Press," hosted by Kenny Smith and Ian Eagle; and "In the Paint," hosted by Rick Barry.

Affinity Circles to Create Social Network for NBA's Portland Trail Blazers

Mountain View, Calif. - Affinity Circles, a provider of social networks for membership organizations, announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement to create the first official social network for an NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers. Fans can pre-register for The Fast Break Club at TrailBlazers.com, where they will be able to create profiles, join groups, share photos and post blogs when the site launches early next month.

Jay-Z to be Unlockable Character in Electronic Arts' "NBA Live 07"

Canton, Mass. - Electronic Arts has signed hip-hop artist and producer Jay-Z to appear as an unlockable character in its "NBA Live 07" title for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. As part of the deal, gamers who purchase Reebok's new S. Carter Basketball IV shoe at Champs Stores will receive a special code to unlock Jay-Z's character within the game. The rapper will also be available as a free agent to join teams in the game's Season and Dynasty modes.

2K Sports Releases "NHL 2K7" for PS2, Soundtrack for "NBA 2K7"

New York - 2K Sports, a unit of video game publisher Take-Two Interactive, on Tuesday shipped its "NHL 2K7" title for PlayStation 2 to retailers. Separately, the company announced the release of the album soundtrack to its "NBA 2K7" game. Produced by Dan the Automator, the album on Decon Records and distributed by Caroline includes tracks featuring Fabolous, Mos Def and Ghostface.

New York - 2K Sports, a unit of Take-Two Interactive, on Tuesday shipped its "NBA 2K7" title for Xbox 360, Xbox and PlayStation 2 to retailers. Developed by 2K Sports' Visual Concepts studio, the game features a new 24/7: Next Streetball story mode. A version for the Sony PlayStation 3 is also slated for release in the fall.

Electronic Arts Releases "NBA LIVE 07"

Redwood City, Calif. - Electronic Arts announced on Tuesday that it has released "NBA LIVE 07" in North American retail stores. Developed by EA Canada, the game features Tracy McGrady of the Houston Rockets on its cover. The title is available now for Xbox 360, Xbox, PSP, the PC and mobile; versions for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 will ship later this week and later this year, respectively.

New York - BurnLounge, a provider of technology that lets artists and fans create their own digital music stores, announced on Wednesday that NBA star Shaquille O'Neal has launched a digital store to promote and sell his seven hip-hop albums. In addition to individual artist stores, New York-based BurnLounge allows fans to create digital music stores to sell songs from their favorite artists, and earn points redeemable for music and merchandise in their store. BurnLounge also offers a library of over one million titles from all the major labels and many independents and unsigned artists.

CSTV, a division of CBS, launched on Friday 100 new broadband channels dedicated to live college sports. CSTV’s offerings will include separate channels for the following conferences: Big East, Big West, Pacific 10, Southland, West Coast, Mountain West, and Conference USA, in addition to dedicated channels for individual schools. In most cases, CSTV will share revenues from subscriptions, advertising, merchandise and other sales, with participating schools.

NBA to Sell Highlights, Replays of Playoffs and Finals Games on iTunes

New York - The NBA announced on Monday that it will sell downloadable game highlights from the league's 2006 playoffs and finals on Apple's iTunes store. The 15 to 20-minute game recaps of broadcasts from ABC, ESPN, TNT and NBATV will be made available within 24 hours after each game's conclusion for $1.99 each. Complete game replays of every game of the NBA finals will also be offered, for $5.99. Another feature will allow fans to pick one team and receive full game recaps of every game that team plays through the finals for $8.99. Additionally, the NBA partnered with TNT to offer every episode of TNT's "Inside the NBA" through the Conference Finals for $8.99.

Sony Cancels Release of Football, Basketball Video Games for 2004

Foster City, Calif. -- Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that its 989 Sports division will not release updates for a number of its sports games this year, following a similar move made by Microsoft's XSN Sports in light of competition in the sector from independent developers like Electronic Arts. Sony said that it will not release new pro or college football or basketball titles for 2004, instead choosing to focus on developing more compelling versions for release in 2005. Sony said the decision will not affect its baseball, hockey, soccer or Olympics sports titles.
