DivX Sues Universal Music Over Copyright Claims on Video-Sharing Site

San Diego - DivX, a developer of video compression and video distribution technologies, announced on Friday that it has filed a preemptive lawsuit against Universal Music Group, asking a judge to declare that the label's claims of copyright infringement against its Stage6 video-sharing site are without merit.

San Diego - DivX, a developer of video compression technology and related services, announced on Tuesday that it plans to spin-off its Stage6 video-sharing site into a separate company.

San Francisco - CNET News.com reported on Thursday that sources say both Microsoft and video compression developer DivX have recently met with video-sharing site Revver, with eyes toward possibly acquiring the company.
