TBS, MySpace Team on Stand-Up Comedy Contest

Los Angeles - Time Warner's TBS network announced that it has partnered with online social network MySpace on a user-submitted stand-up comedy video contest. The "Stand Up or Sit Down Comedy Challenge" invites amateur or rising comics to submit video samples of their work via MySpace, whose members will pick the top finalists. The five finalists will then perform in a one-hour special hosted by George Lopez that will air on TBS, with MySpace voters to determine the winner of $50,000, a development deal and other prizes.

Yahoo Seeks User-Generated Videos for Online Talent Show

Santa Monica, Calif. - Hoping to generate traffic to its own video-sharing destination in the wake of rival Google's acquisition of YouTube, Yahoo on Monday announced the launch of an eight-week, $50,000 online video contest that will seek "the hottest original talent on the Internet."

Bix.com Creates Online Talent Competitions for User-Generated Media

Palo Alto, Calif. - Bix.com on Wednesday introduced its website that lets anyone create an online talent competition. After creating a theme, the site asks users to decide how entries should be submitted (e.g. audio, video, photo) and offers an e-mail marketing tool to publicize the contest.
