Tapulous Signs Universal Music for iPhone Music Games

Los Angeles - Tapulous, the developer of the popular iPhone music game "Tap Tap Revenge," has signed a deal with Universal Music Group to create versions of its game featuring Universal artists, VentureBeat reported. The first title released under the partnership is a Lady Gaga-themed Tap Tap Revenge, available for $4.99.

Los Angeles - Tapulous, which recently released the second official version of its "Tap Tap Revenge" game for the iPhone and iPod touch, said on Thursday that "Tap Tap Revenge 2" is the top free application on Apple's (NASD: AAPL) App Store, and has already been downloaded over 500,000 times since Monday. Over 150 songs are available for the latest version of the Guitar Hero-like mobile game. Tapulous noted in a blog post that song downloads and online play from the flood of new users are currently overwhelming its servers.

"Tap Tap Revenge" Developer Gets $1 Million; 5 Million Installs

Los Angeles - Tapulous, the mobile application developer responsible for the popular "Tap Tap Revenge" music-based game for the iPhone and iPod touch, has raised an additional $1 million in funding, and says that 5 million users have now installed the game, TechCrunch reported. The funding closed on Dec. 31, CEO Bart Decrem wrote in an email to investors published by TechCrunch. Decrem also said that 100,000 users have paid for premium versions of the game.

Tapulous Debuts New iPhone Games With EMI Artists, Weezer

Los Angeles - Tapulous, developers of the iPhone and iPod touch music game "Tap Tap Revenge," has announced the release of two new versions of the game, one of which features dance music from EMI and independent artists, while the other features original recordings of Christmas songs by Weezer (Universal/Geffen Records). "Tap Tap Dance" features EMI artists Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Moby, Digitalism and Basement Jaxx, as well as tracks from Justice and Junkie XL.

"Tap Tap Revenge" iPhone Game to Feature Nine Inch Nails

Los Angeles - Nine Inch Nails, the Trent Reznor-fronted industrial rock band that has recently experimented with alternative distribution models of its albums, has partnered with Tapulous, creators of the iPhone game "Tap Tap Revenge," to release a NIN-themed premium version of the game featuring the band's music, TechCrunch reports. Set for release next month, the NIN version of the Guitar Hero-like mobile game will include over a dozen songs from the band's last two albums.
