Blog Search Engine Technorati Debuts Blog Ad Network

San Francisco - Blog search engine Technorati on Tuesday launched its own blog advertising network, Technorati Media, TechCrunch reported. The service has been in testing with a number of partner blogs, including BlogTalkRadio, BlogCritics, BlogTV and several other others that count a combined 17 million unique monthly users. Initial advertisers include Honda, Toyota, T-Mobile, Microsoft, Sony, Paramount and Universal Pictures. The network is currently only courting larger blogs, but is expected to open it up to any interested blog publishers in 2 or 3 months.

For all of the criticism about Technorati's inconsistent ranking figures or recent team changes, the one thing the site has intuitively understood from the beginning is the inherent desire for bloggers to be ranked.  Though there are lots of industry based lists (such as the Power150, Viral Garden Top25, and Peter Kim's newly launched M20) for marketing and advertising bloggers, Technorati still holds a unique place as the main blog directory for the worldwide blogosphere in every category.

San Francisco - Technorati, an ad-supported search engine that indexes more than 40 million blogs, has raised $7.6 million in its third round of venture capital financing, VentureWire reported.

Technorati, Paramount Classics to Promote Films on Blogs

San Francisco - Technorati, a site that tracks and aggregates news from over 39 million blogs, announced this week that it partnered with Paramount Classics to promote upcoming films. The studio plans to create a page on each of its film sites that features up-to-the-minute blog posts about the film, provided through Technorati, and will place movie ads on Technorati.com and its partner sites. Technorati will also enable its blogs to syndicate live content from the producers of Paramount films. The first title under the agreement will be "An Inconvenient Truth," starring former Vice President Al Gore.
