Omnifone Launches MusicStation Unlimited Mobile Download Service

London - Omnifone, a U.K.-based mobile music firm, on Wednesday announced the launch of its MusicStation unlimited full-track mobile music service, with the arrival of MusicStation handsets at retail and signing of international licensing agreements with all four major record labels. Sweden's Telenor is the first carrier to offer the service, which will cost about $4 per week -- including data -- and is due to also launch across Europe, Asia-Pacific and Africa.

EMI to Offer DRM-Free Songs at Digital Stores in France, Scandinavia

London - Following the major label's announcement yesterday that it would provide DRM-free music for sale on retail giant Amazon.com's forthcoming digital music store, EMI Music said that it has additionally signed deals to provide its artists' tracks free of digital rights management to other European retailers. EMI will offer its catalog to VirginMega in France, as well as to Scandinavian services including Telenor, Musicbrigade, Inprodicon, Basepoint Media, Aspiro and Paragallo.

New York - Major record label Warner Music Group announced on Wednesday that it has signed deals with wireless network operators Telenor and Orascom Telecom, to distribute ringtones and full-track downloads in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
