Scandinavia's TeliaSonera Debuts Unlimited Music Service

Stockholm, Sweden - Scandinavian telco TeliaSonera has launched an unlimited music download service that will eventually be available to 13.3 million subscribers in six countries. The service offers over 3 million songs from EMI, Universal Music, Warner Music and others, costs about $12.11 per month, and permits mobile and PC downloads. Telia Musik will launch first in Sweden before being offered in Norway, Finland, Denmark, Estonia and Lithuania.

TeliaSonera Gets iPhone; KPN in Talks on Netherlands

Los Angeles - Sweden-based wireless carrier TeliaSonera announced on Wednesday that it has signed a deal with Apple (NASD: AAPL) to market the iPhone in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark, as well as the Baltic nations of Lithuania, Lavtia and Estonia later this year. Meanwhile, Thomson Financial reports that Dutch carrier KPN has been approached by Apple about selling the iPhone in the Netherlands. Apple has recently signed a spate of international iPhone partners, and is widely expected to announce a next-generation 3G version early next month.

Nokia, TeliaSonera to Trial Mobile TV Service in Sweden

Espoo, Finland - Nokia announced on Monday that it has signed a new agreement with wireless carrier TeliaSonera Sweden, to test a DVB-H mobile TV service in Sweden.

TeliaSonera Sells Zed to Wisdom Entertainment for $36.7 Million

Madrid -- Wisdom Entertainment, an interactive media group based in Spain, announced that it has completed the acquisition of Sonera Zed Ltd. from TeliaSonera, a Swedish-Finnish telecommunications operator, for $36.7 million. Zed is an independent aggregator and reseller of digital content to mobile phone users. Composed of eight companies in the interactive multimedia entertainment industry, Wisdom Entertainment is involved in videogame development and distribution, computer-animated film production and mobile content development and distribution. Wisdom said that investors Apax Partners, iNova Capital and the Perez Dolset family helped finance the acquisition. In April, Apax Partners led a 39-million-euro ($48 million) investment in the group.

TeliaSonera Sells Zed to Wisdom Entertainment for $37 Million

Madrid -- Scandinavian wireless carrier TeliaSonera announced that it has agreed to sell its Sonera Zed unit to Wisdom Entertainment, a Spanish interactive media firm, for $37 million. Zed is a reseller of digital content for mobile phones in Finland, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, the Philippines and the U.K. through direct relationship with 23 mobile network operators. The firm also has operations in Austria, Ireland and Switzerland through connectivity partners. Wisdom Entertainment is involved in video game development and distribution, computer-animated film production and mobile content development and distribution. The deal has yet to be approved by the German competition watchdog, whose decision is expected by mid September, TeliaSonera said.
