Canada Authorizes ISP Bandwidth Throttling as "Last Resort"

Ottawa, Canada - Canada's telecom regulator on Wednesday issued new guidelines for Internet service providers in their use of traffic management practices, that include a provision allowing for intentional "throttling" of peer-to-peer traffic as a last result.

Musiwave Powers Mobile Music Subscription Service for Canada's Telus

Redwood City, Calif. - Musiwave, a provider of mobile music download services, announced on Friday that it is powering the mobile music subscription service launched earlier this month by Canadian carrier Telus. Telus Mobile Music is the first subscription-based, full-track mobile music service to launch in North America. Musiwave also powers mobile music services for 35 mobile operators in 25 countries, including Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange and Telefonica.

Amp'd Mobile Gets $7.5 Million From Telus; Service to Launch in Canada

Vancouver - Amp'd Mobile, a virtual mobile network operator that offers a youth-targeted, entertainment-focused phone service, announced on Friday that it has partnered with Canadian telco Telus to sell Amp'd-branded services in Canada. As part of the agreement, Vancouver-based Telus Ventures has made a $7.5 million equity investment in the company. Los Angeles-based Amp'd has deals to distribute mobile entertainment content from over 200 firms, including MTV and Universal Music Group, to its subscribers. The Canadian Amp'd service is expected to launch in early 2007.

Musiwave to Power Mobile Music Service for Canada's Telus

Redwood City, Calif. - Mobile music service provider Musiwave announced on Wednesday that it has signed its first deal with a North American customer, Telus, and will power a mobile music download service for the Canadian wireless carrier. Musiwave also powers mobile music services for Orange France and SFR.
