The Apprentice

Analysis: The Apprentice and BBC iPlayer

That’s what I’m talking about! Like nine million other Britons, the Hitwise UK office has been slightly obsessed with The Apprentice over the last few months. We were pleased to see peoples’ choice Lee McQueen crowned winner last night, although we do have sympathy for the runner up and favourite, Claire Young (I wonder if she’ll take up that job offer from Karen Brady?). In addition to the reverse pterodactyl and Clurr, our other favourites included thespian Raef (also the viewer’s favourite - ‘raef’ and ‘raef bjayou’ were the top contestant search terms sending traffic to the programme’s homepage over the last 4 weeks); Lady Lucinda Ribenaberet; Kevin, the only gay in the Italian restaurant; and of course Surallen himself. Naturally, we weren’t so keen of on the evil trinity of Alex, Michael and Jenny.

Mark Cuban: Donald - Need a Job?

What in the world is Donald Trump going to do now? He "quit" The Apprentice after a 3 year run. His casinos once again are having troubles. He is at real risk of transitioning from THE Donald to, "you remember, THAT Donald". I actually feel sorry for the guy. Seriously, what could his future hold ? We live in a culture where celebrity out of the limelight is celebrity quickly forgotten. Its a peril for those whose only skill is being a celebrity and I'm sad to say, I think Donald Trump has fallen from businessperson who goes back to work as some of us are, into the category of celebrity without a TV show.

In August of 2006, Mr. Trump was voted by BusinessWeek magazine as “the world’s most competitive businessperson.” In New York City, the Trump signature is synonymous with the most prestigious of addresses, among them the world-renowned Fifth Avenue skyscraper, Trump Tower, the Trump International Hotel & Tower, voted the best U.S. Hotel by Conde Nast Traveler, Trump World Tower at the United Nations Plaza, 40 Wall Street, and Trump Park Avenue.

Buzz Watch: Donald Trump Gets a Star on the Walk of Fame

Donald Trump's star was unveiled Tuesday on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. No doubt that Donald Trump, producer and host of NBC reality show "The Apprentice," is famous. But does the real estate billionaire belong in the company of Hollywood's 2327 biggest film, music and television stars? He certainly thinks so himself. Except for perhaps Paris Hilton, is there anyone who does a better job of promoting himself/herself in the media right now? The whole feud between Trump and Rosie O'Donnell is just another example of how "The Donald" manages to keep himself in the spotlight. Congrats on the star Donald! I'm sure we'll see much more of you in the coming years.
