Puzo's Son Sues Paramount Over "Godfather" Game Revenues

Los Angeles - Anthony Puzo, son of "The Godfather" author Mario Puzo, has filed suit against Paramount Pictures (NYSE: VIA) over alleged unpaid revenues from Electronic Arts' (NASD: ERTS) video game based on the films, Reuters reported.

Redwood City, Calif. - Electronic Arts on Thursday released two new versions of its "The Godfather" game, for the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. "The Godfather: The Don's Edition" for PlayStation 3 includes the "Corleone" expansion pack and takes advantage of the PS3's Sixaxis controller, while "The Godfather: Blackhand Edition" for the Wii adds elements designed for Nintendo's own motion-sensing Wii Remote.

Electronic Arts to Ship "The Godfather" Video Game in the Fall

Redwood City, Calif. -- Electronic Arts announced on Wednesday that its EA Redwood Shores studio is developing a game based on the Mario Puzo novel and Francis Ford Coppola-directed Paramount Pictures film, "The Godfather," which has now been scheduled for release in the fall of 2005. Actors from the original film, including James Caan and Robert Duvall, will provide voice talent and contribute to the game's development. EA was also granted rights from Marlon Brando and conducted a voiceover session with the actor before his death last July. The non-linear action-adventure game will be released for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Sony PSP and the PC.

Electronic Arts Confirms Deal to Develop "The Godfather" Video Game

London -- GamesIndustry.biz reports that game developer Electronic Arts has confirmed that it is currently developing a game based on "The Godfather" film from Francis Ford Coppola and novel from Mario Puzo. EA CFO Warren Jenson confirmed the development plans at a recent Bear Stearns conference. The title would be an unlikely foray for EA into "Mature"-rated games, which include rival developer Rockstar Games' popular and graphically violent "Grand Theft Auto" franchise. EA is best known for its sports and "Teen"-rated war-themed titles, such as "Madden NFL" and "Battlefield 1942."
