Activision Releases Expansion Pack for "The Movies" PC Game

Santa Monica, Calif. - Activision announced on Tuesday the release of "The Movies: Stunts & Effects Expansion Pack," an add-on for developer Lionhead Studios' PC game that lets players become Hollywood movie studio executives.

Santa Monica, Calif. - A "machinima" film created within a video game that challenges players to become movie moguls and create their own movies has gained notoriety and the attention of MTV.com and The Washington Post. "The French Democracy," a film created by French designer Alex Chan using Activision and developer Lionhead Studios' "The Movies" game, documents the political situation and recent riots in France. "With The Movies we wanted to make a game that allows anyone to easily express themselves by making a short film and posting them online to share with the world," said Lionhead Studios' Peter Molyneux. "Alex's film, which is absolutely terrific, really demonstrates the potential power and impact that these films can have."

Activision Ships "The Movies," "GUN" to Retailers

Santa Monica, Calif. - Video game publisher Activision on Tuesday announced the release of its PC title "The Movies," created and developed by Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios. The game lets players build and operate their own Hollywood movie studio, managing films from development through production and marketing. Activision also shipped its "GUN" title, developed by Neversoft Entertainment. The game for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and the PC features a script penned by Randall Jahnson ("The Doors," "Mask of Zorro") and voice talent from actors including Thomas Jane, Kris Kristofferson, Tom Skerritt and Lance Henriksen.
