"Project Runway" Model Show Spin-Off Hatches Online Contest

New York - Lifetime Digital and The Weinstein Company on Tuesday announced an online contest that will award an aspiring model a spot on the next season of "Models of the Runway," the new spin-off of "Project Runway." Hopeful models fill out an online application with photos and videos on MySpace (NYSE: NWS); users will vote online for earlier rounds, before the producers have a say in the final stage. The companies said online casting service GotCast.com will power the interactive casting feature on MySpace.

San Francisco - Delivery Agent, a provider of shopping-enabled programming for 125 entertainment properties, said on Wednesday that it partnered with The Weinstein Company to auction off over 35 original garments designed by the final three contestants on Bravo's "Project Runway" fashion designer reality show. A portion of the proceeds from the final collections will go to benefit New York-based The HOPE Program, a career-development program helping homeless and welfare-dependent adults.

New York - The Weinstein Company, the new film studio created by Miramax founders Bob and Harvey Weinstein, announced that it has agreed to support Toshiba's next-generation HD DVD format. The company plans more than 20 HD DVD releases, including "Transamerica," "Wolf Creek," "The Matador" and "Mrs. Henderson Presents." Separately, France's Studio Canal announced that it plans to release more than 30 films on HD DVD format in 2006.
