New York - UPDATED. In the video interview embedded above from the Future of Television Forum East, Rick Cotton, General Counsel, NBC Universal (NYSE: GE), says that unauthorized video clips from Saturday Night Live's cupcake-eating white rappers of Lazy Sunday fame essentially launched YouTube (NASD: GOOG) into mainstream success. He also made the statement, which has been widely debated in the blogosphere, during a keynote interview at the event. He also discusses NBCU's efforts to protect its copyrights and attract online viewers to Hulu.com and NBC.com. Cotton also outlines what he would like to see from the Obama administration in terms of new regulation for protecting copyrights, and comments on the lessons learned from the music industry. Tina Fey on 30 Rock It came and went fast enough to warrant nothing more than a smile, but the line stuck well past the delivery.  Tina Fey, in the role of Liz Lemon on her NBC hit comedy 30 Rock, dropped one of the most icy, brilliant bits of commentary the 2008 presidential race has seen yet.  Confessing her many shortcomings to the character played by Jason Sudeikis (of Saturday Night Live), Ms. Lemon said, “There is an 80% chance in the next election that I will tell all my friends I am voting for Barack Obama, but I will secretly vote for John McCain.”
