San Francisco - Japanese video game developer Sega this week announced several of the upcoming titles it plans to display at the industry's Electronic Entertainment Expo next month in Los Angeles. They include "Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz," in development at Sega Studios for the Nintendo Wii; "Virtua Tennis 3," which is being developed for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for release in the spring of 2007; and "World Pool Championship 2007" for PlayStation 2 and PSP, from U.K.-based studio Blade Interactive, which will be published in the fall of 2006.

San Diego - Sony Online Entertainment announced on Tuesday that it plans to release a bundled anthology of its five online PC games. The $39 Station Access Collection, slated for release on March 14, will include "EverQuest Evolution," "EverQuest II," "The Matrix Online," "PlanetSide Aftershock" and "Star Wars Galaxies."

Santa Clara, Calif. - Namco Bandai Games America on Wednesday shipped its "Curious George" title for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance and the PC to retailers. Developed for consoles and the PC by Monkey Bar Games and for handhelds by Torus Games, the title is based on the Universal Pictures/Imagine Entertainment animated film, slated for release on Feb. 10.

Redmond, Wash. - Nintendo of America on Monday shipped its "Electroplankton" music title for Nintendo DS to retailers. Designed by Japanese electronic artist Toshio Iwai, the game enables players to compose music using embedded beats and samples created using the device's microphone.

New York - 2K Sports, a unit of video game publisher Take-Two Interactive, announced on Wednesday that it will offer its "Amped 3" snowboarding game as a launch title for Microsoft's next-generation Xbox 360 video game console. Developed by 2K Sports' Indie Built studio, the game will feature a soundtrack with over 300 tracks from independent artists.

Redwood City, Calif. -- Independent game developer Electronic Arts announced on Monday that Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Comics have awarded the company the worldwide interactive rights to develop games based on the legendary comic superhero, "Superman." Under the multi-year agreement, Redwood City, Calif.-based EA will publish games for all platforms based on the upcoming Superman feature film from Warner Bros. Pictures -- as well as any sequels -- in addition to Superman comics and animated television programs. "We are extremely excited about creating a whole new look and feel for the universe of Superman characters," said EA president and COO John Riccitiello. Separately, Electronic Arts on Monday announced that it will release "The Sims 2," a sequel to the best-selling PC game of all time, in early 2004.
