Burbank, Calif. - TMZ, the celebrity gossip site joint venture between Time Warner's (NYSE: TWX) AOL and Telepictures Productions, announced on Thursday the launch of a new ad-supported mobile site, powered by Quattro Wireless. The site will offer news, text alerts, photo galleries and dozens of videos. TMZ said it will also launch an on-deck mobile website with mobile network operator AT&T during the second quarter.

Los Angeles - News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) MySpace announced on Wednesday that it will offer video content from celebrity entertainment producer TMZ on its MySpaceTV platform. MySpace will feature select exclusive clips after they air on the "TMZ" television program, as well as up to 15 non-exclusive clips on a weekly basis. "TMZ" is produced by Harvey Levin Productions and paraMedia in association with Telepictures Productions, and distributed by Time Warner's (NYSE: TWX) Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution .

As inevitable as the Mitchell Report response was, how long will it be before we get the headline: "Popeye denies he knew spinach was a performance enhancing drug". "I had no idea. I was just eating my vegetables. It was supposed to make me stronger. It was what, 30 or more years ago ? How much did we really know about the properties of spinach back then ? Why is the media making such a big deal out of this ? I didn't know then and I am paying the price today.

Ah, yes, another day, another set of nude photos found in the garbage of a celebrity.  Today’s victim is Marcia Cross, red-headed star of Desperate Housewives.  TMZ reported in October 2006 that the photos, taken by Cross’s husband and “mistakenly” thrown out, only to be discovered by the garbage men and sold to the highest bidder, have finally hit the web (see them here).

Nearly every major original content brand that publishes in both analogue and digital started in analogue and then extended to digital — and in nearly all instances, the analog operation took priority, which made sense given that the newspaper, magazine, TV show, etc. was generating most of the revenue and profit. That balance of power is now shifting, as most media companies see their future in digital, even though digital revenue and profits still have a long way to go to catch up.

Paris Hilton entered jail on June 3 for violating her probation in a drunk-driving case. In true Paris fashion, she managed to make headlines even in jail, by going home for supposed medical reasons, re-entering jail, and talking to Barbara Walters about her newfound maturity. The gossip blogs, of course were flooded with commentary, rumors, and speculation about Paris' jail stay, as was the major news media. US traffic to TMZ and Hollywood Tuna was up 60% and 85% respectively, making this the third highest traffic week in celebrity news in the past year, after Anna Nicole Smith's death and Britney Spears' lack of wardrobe malfunctions.
