New York - Celebrity and entertainment site HollywoodLife.com, a unit of Mail.com Media Corp., announced on Friday that it has named former TMZ.com New York bureau chief Will Lee as executive editor. The announcement was made by HollywoodLife.com president and editor-in-chief Bonnie Fuller, the former US Weekly editor who herself was recently hired to run the soon-to-be relaunched site.

San Mateo, Calif. - As news spread about Michael Jackson's death on Thursday, fans and curiosity seekers inundated the Internet for information, slowing several major news sites to a crawl, according to website performance measurement firm Keynote Systems. The firm said that during the early evening hours, sites including ABC, CBS, the L.A. Times and AOL became nearly unavailable (down to nearly 10% availability).

New York - AOL and Time Warner's celebrity gossip blog TMZ.com has received a takedown notice from a trustee overseeing the bankruptcy case of O.J. Simpson, after the website yesterday published a link to the notorious unpublished manuscript "If I Did It," Wired News reported.

Hollywood Gossip Site TMZ.com to Launch D.C. Spin-Off

Washington - TMZ.com, the popular Hollywood gossip site founded by former TV personality Harvey Levin, plans to launch a spin-off site in D.C. focused on juicy happenings inside the Beltway, The Washington Post reported. The Post reported that Levin is searching for a D.C. bureau chief and freelance writers for the site, to be known as TMZ DC. Sixteen-month-old TMZ, now a joint venture joint venture between Telepictures Productions and AOL, drew 8.4 million visitors last month -- or nearly twice as many as People.com.

Dulles, Va. - America Online said on Thursday that it has teamed with Telepictures Productions to launch TMZ.com, a new entertainment news site. Telepictures produces nationally syndicated TV shows including "Extra," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "The Tyra Banks Show" and "ElimiDate". AOL said that TMZ.com will cover the latest news on celebrities, movies, music, television shows and video games.
