Eisner's Vuguru Gets Rogers Investment, Will Spin-Off Tornante

Los Angeles - Vuguru, the two-year-old new media studio launched by former Disney head Michael Eisner's Tornante Company, announced on Monday that it has secured an investment from Canadian broadcaster and publisher Rogers Media, and will spin-off as an independent company. The deal also sees Rogers entering a long-term agreement to be the exclusive Canadian distributor of future Vuguru projects.

Vuguru to Distribute "Prom Queen" Web Series in France, Japan

Beverly Hills, Calif. - Former Disney head Michael Eisner's Tornante Company said on Tuesday that it has signed international distribution deals for its Vuguru new media production studio's "Prom Queen" Web series. Cyber-Group Animation will offer the series dubbed in French for wireless mobile, broadband, TV and home video, while Rights Entertainment will distribute the series in Japanese, as well as produce a localized version. Tornante said "Prom Queen" was viewed over 15 million times during its original run, while the spin-off, "Prom Queen: Summer Heat," is approaching 2.5 million views.

Beverly Hills, Calif. - The Tornante Company, a venture founded in 2005 by former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, announced on Monday the formation of Vuguru, an independent studio that will produce and distribute original content for the Internet and emerging digital platforms.
