Kuma Reality Games, History Channel Partner on TV-Gaming Series

New York - Kuma Reality Games, a publisher of military-themed online games whose plots are taken from real-world headlines, announced that it has partnered with The History Channel to develop synergistic gaming and TV programming. The second season of The History Channel series "Shootout!," which debuts Nov. 3, will see new online games for each episode that allow viewers to learn of an historical gun battle -- such as Iwo Jima, Battle of the Bulge and the Tet Offensive -- and then play a 3D game re-creation of the battle.

PixelPlay Develops Interactive TV Game for "How to Eat Fried Worms"

New York - Interactive TV games developer PixelPlay announced on Wednesday that it partnered with New Line Cinema to launch an interactive game for the studio's upcoming film "How to Eat Fried Worms." The title is available on PixelPlay's DishGAMES interactive games channel on satellite TV provider EchoStar's DISH Network service.

PixelPlay to Develop World Poker Tour Interactive TV Games

New York - PixelPlay, a developer of interactive TV games and entertainment, announced on Monday that it has signed a license agreement with WPT Enterprises, for the rights to develop and publish World Poker Tour-branded casino games for interactive TV platforms. New York-based PixelPlay's first titles will include two single-player interactive Texas Hold 'Em games and a multiplayer interactive Texas Hold 'Em game, with additional titles planned for release in 2007.

Jakks Pacific to Create TV Games Based on DreamWorks Movies

Malibu, Calif. - Toymaker Jakks Pacific announced on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with film studio DreamWorks Animation, to produce a number of its TV Games plug-and-play video game devices based on DreamWorks movies. Under the deal, Jakks will produce TV Games based on "Shrek," "Shark Tale," "Over the Hedge" and "Madagascar," all of which are slated for release in 2006.

Disney Acquires U.K. Interactive TV Games Maker Minds Eye Productions

North Hollywood, Calif. -- Walt Disney Internet Group announced on Wednesday that it has acquired U.K.-based Minds Eye Productions, a developer of interactive TV games. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 1995, Minds Eye has created interactive TV versions of "Monopoly" and "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire," in addition to the Disney-branded interactive TV games available on the "Disney Channel Play" channel on U.K. satellite TV service Sky. Minds Eye will maintain its 20-person staff and current offices in Milton Keynes. "This acquisition allows us to build on our successful Disney branded iTV game service and shows our commitment to this market," said Mark Handler, executive vice president and managing director, Walt Disney Internet Group International.
