RoyaltyShare, a provider of digital royalty solutions to the entertainment industry, today announced the appointment of Ray Farrell to the position of senior vice president of Business Development and Label Relations. Farrell will be based at the company's forthcoming New York office and will report to Steve Grady, president and COO of RoyaltyShare.

Twistbox Acquires Mobile Games Studio From InfoSpace

Los Angeles - Twistbox Entertainment, a developer and publisher of mobile entertainment content, announced on Thursday that it has acquired mobile media firm InfoSpace's mobile game development studio in San Mateo, Calif. for an undisclosed sum.

Yahoo China's President Xie Wen has resigned after barely 40 days on the job, according to Alibaba.com, which owns the web property. Xie Wen, who was chief executive of Chinese financial Web portal Hexun.com before joining Yahoo China, decided to leave his position for personal reasons, the company said in a statement Tuesday. He had formally joined Yahoo China on October 17. Xie will become a strategic adviser to Alibaba. Yahoo China's Head of Strategic Development, Zeng Ming, will serve as acting president, the company said. Yahoo China was absorbed by China-based Alibaba last year when Yahoo of the United States bought a 40 percent stake in Alibaba for $1 billion.

Mobile Firms Waat Media, Charismatix Merge; Raise $12.75 Million

Los Angeles - Mobile adult entertainment distributor Waat Media and mobile game publisher Charismatix announced on Tuesday that they have merged to form Twistbox Entertainment. The new company has raised $12.75 million in new financing, led by Spark Capital. Los Angeles-based Waat Media, which distributes adult mobile content from partners including Penthouse, "Girls Gone Wild" and Vivid Entertainment, will continue to operate as a separate unit within Twistbox, while Charismatix will be rebranded as Twistbox Games. The funds will be used to accelerate the development of the company's general entertainment category, expand distribution in Asia and explore possible acquisition targets.
