Twitter Launches Spanish-language Version of Site

San Francisco - Twitter has launched a Spanish-language version of its website, co-founder Biz Stone announced in a blog post published yesterday. The site was created with the assistance of volunteers -- similar to how Facebook has used volunteers and software to create foreign language versions of its site.

Yahoo Testing Real-Time Data in Search Results

San Francisco - Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) is experimenting with providing real-time search results from services like Twitter, and has partnered with real-time search providers including OneRiot on the trials, Reuters reported.

Peek Launches TwitterPeek Dedicated Twitter Mobile Device

New York - Consumer electronics firm Peek on Tuesday introduced the TwitterPeek, a mobile device designed exclusively for the purpose of accessing the Twitter microblogging service. The device, which features a QWERTY keyboard, is available for $199 with lifetime unlimited nationwide service, or $99 with a six-month service contract. The TweetPeek lets users send tweets, replies, retweets and direct messages, and also allows users to view pictures on TwitPics.

Google to Include Real-time Twitter Data in Search Results

Mountain View, Calif. - Shortly after Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) announced a similar deal, Google (NASD: GOOG) yesterday said that it had signed a deal with Twitter, to include real-time status updates in its search results. "We believe that our search results and user experience will greatly benefit from the inclusion of this up-to-the-minute data, and we look forward to having a product that showcases how tweets can make search better in the coming months," Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of search products and user experience, wrote in a blog post.

Microsoft to Add Facebook, Twitter Data to Bing Search Results

San Francisco - Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) announced on Wednesday that it has signed separate deals with Facebook and Twitter, to bring real-time status updates from the services to its Bing search engine. While financial terms of the nonexclusive agreements were not disclosed,  PaidContent cited earlier reports pegging Twitter's take as "several million dollars," in addition to a share of ad revenue.

Ad.ly Lands $500,000 for In-Stream Twitter Ads

Los Angeles - Ad.ly, a month-old provider of in-stream Twitter advertising services, has raised $500,000 in seed funding from GRP Partners, TechCrunch reported.

Digg Acquires Founder Rose's WeFollow Twitter Ranking Site

San Francisco - Digg, the user-generated Web content ranking service, has acquired WeFollow, a Twitter directory service launched by Digg founder Kevin Rose earlier this year, TechCrunch reports.

Report: Facebook, Twitter See Growth; MySpace in Decline

New York - Facebook accounted for 59% of all U.S. social network site visits in September, an increase of 194% from the 19% of site visits that Facebook attracted a year ago, according to data from Internet measurement firm Hitwise. MySpace received the second-highest percentage of traffic among social network sites in September, with 30.2% -- a plunge from the 67% of all traffic it drew a year ago.

Slacker Web Radio Service Enables Twitter Integration

San Diego - Slacker, the provider of a streaming radio service and accompanying portable music player, announced on Thursday that it has integrated with Twitter, allowing Slacker users to automatically tweet station changes/plays, favorited songs, banned songs, and banned artists.

New York - Twitter is in "advanced" talks with both Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) and Google (NASD: GOOG) to add Twitter results to their search services, All Things D reports. Compensation deals being discussed reportedly include an upfront payment of "several million dollars," "along with various revenue-sharing proposals that would give Twitter a piece of the revenue made from search results."

Palo Alto, Calif. - A week after News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) MySpace launched a feature that lets members sync their MySpace status updates with their Twitter accounts, MySpace lnk.ms shortened links have become the second-largest source of that brand of traffic, TechCrunch reported, citing Techmeme data. MySpace links now account for 17% of all passed links on Twitter. Bit.ly claims 68%, while TinyURL accounts for 10.13% of passed links.

Twitter Confirms Funding; Reportedly $100M at $1B Valuation

San Francisco - Microblogging service Twitter on Friday confirmed that it has landed a "significant round of funding," which The Wall Street Journal reported was $100 million at a valuation of about $1 billion -- four times its valuation from earlier this year. The company said that investors included Insight Venture Partners, T. Rowe Price, Institutional Venture Partners, Spark Capital and Benchmark Capital.

New York - Twitter is close to raising as much as $100 million in new funding from as many as seven investors, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the deal. That is double the $50 million figure that several recent reports indicated the company was in the process of raising.

The free two-minute calls will use the Jajah Internet-based calling service, and work with any Twitter client, including Seesmic, Tweetie, Twitterfon and TwitterBerry.
