I spent the past week at our Digital Music Forum in New York City with 500 senior industry insiders immersed in two days of high level discussions about the future of the music industry. I don’t often toot our own horn, but this was one heck of a great event.

Universal Music Group to Acquire Univision's Music Assets

Los Angeles - Major record label Universal Music Group, a unit of Vivendi, announced that it will acquired the Latin music recording and publishing division of Spanish-language media firm Univision Communications, effectively making it the largest player in the U.S. Latin music market.

Univision to Manage NFL's Spanish-language Website

New York - Univision Online, the interactive subsidiary of Univision Communications, and the National Football League (NFL) announced on Thursday that they will jointly manage and operate NFLatino, the official U.S. Spanish-language website of the NFL.

Univision Taps Maven Networks to Power New Web Video Portal

Cambridge, Mass. - Maven Networks, a provider of Internet TV delivery technology, said on Wednesday that Spanish-language media company Univision Online will use its services to power a new consumer Web video portal. Univision.com claims over 15 million unique monthly users.

Sony Corporation of America, a joint venture between Sony and trusts formed by Michael Jackson, announced today that Martin Bandier has been named Chairman and CEO, Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC. Mr. Bandier will also make an investment in Sony/ATV.

WSJ: Univision’s Board Approves Sale

The Wall Street Journal reports that Univision’s board approved the sale of the Spanish-language broadcaster to a consortium of private-equity investors for about $12.3 billion.

Verizon, Univision Team on Spanish-Language World Cup Mobile Content

Bedminster, N.J. - Verizon Wireless said on Monday that it partnered with Spanish-language media company Univision, to provide subscribers with Spanish-language highlights of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. In addition to 2006 World Cup footage, Verizon subscribers can also access Univision-produced highlights from the 2002 World Cup.
