Userplane to Power IM, Community Tools for The CW

Santa Monica, Calif. - AOL's (NYSE: TW) Userplane social application platform division said on Tuesday that it has signed deals to power communication and community tools for network and cable TV partners The CW, Channel 4, Fuel TV and IFC. Userplane will provide the broadcasters' websites with customizable tools such as live instant messaging and chat.

AOL's Userplane Debuts Social Media Tools Revenue-Sharing Program

Santa Monica, Calif. - AOL's Userplane, a provider of communications tools for online communities, this week launched Userplane Money, a revenue-sharing program that pays publishers who distribute its applications. The Userplane platform serves ads in instant messaging, Web chat and other widgets used on community sites such as MySpace. Santa Monica, Calif.-based Userplane said publishers who deploy its Instant-Install community platform can receive revenue-sharing payments via PayPal.

Veoh Networks, an Internet Television broadcasting provider, announced the addition of Ted Meisel to its Board of Directors as an independent director. Meisel is the former President of Yahoo! Search Marketing and CEO of Overture Services. He joins former Walt Disney Company CEO Michael Eisner; leading venture capitalists Todd Dagres and Art Bilger; and Veoh founder and CEO, Dmitry Shapiro on Veoh’s Board.

AOL Acquires Web-Based Chat and IM Firm Userplane

Dulles, Va. - In its third acquisition of the year, AOL said on Monday that it has paid an undisclosed amount for Userplane, a Los Angeles-based developer of Web-based chat and instant messaging tools.
