Judge Clears Way for MySpace Lawsuit Alleging Ex-Execs and Directors of Intermix and VC Defrauded Shareholders of Billions

New York - U.S. District Court Judge George King of the Central District of California on July 15 rejected a motion to dismiss a lawsuit against the executives who sold MySpace parent Intermix to News Corp (NWS) in 2005, clearing the way for the suit to go to trial.

Online Marketing Software Developer Revcube Secures $14 Million

San Francisco - Revcube, a San Francisco-based company that makes software to improve the relevancy of online marketing, announced on Tuesday that it has secured $14 million in its third round of funding. The round was led by VantagePoint Venture Partners. Previous investors in the company include Generation Partners and Transcosmos. The company said that VantagePoint Managing Director and DoubleClick Founder David Carlick will join its board of directors.

Mobile Entertainment Firm 3GUpload Gets $20 Million, Acquires Mophone

Las Vegas - 3GUpload, a provider of a mobile entertainment portal, announced on Wednesday that it has received a $20 million investment from VantagePoint Venture Partners, and also that it acquired mobile community software developer Mophone. The combined company will re-launch under a new brand later this year, which will count four million registered users. Currently, 3GUpload offers more than 30,000 ringtones, games and other mobile content direct to consumers through subscription services that range from $6-$14 per month. The company said Mophone CEO William Bryant will serve as CEO of the merged company. "We saw community and social networking take off first hand from our experience with MySpace," said VantagePoint Venture Partners managing director Eric Ver Ploeg. "The next phase is to extend this concept to the mobile platform."
