San Diego - Veoh Networks, a developer of Internet TV broadcasting technology, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $12.5 million in its second round of venture capital financing. Investors included former Disney chairman and CEO Michael Eisner's The Tornante Company, Time Warner, Spark Capital and previous investor Shelter Capital Partners. In addition to his new firm's investment, Eisner will take a seat on Veoh's board of directors. San Diego-based Veoh provides both professional and amateur-grade technology that enables the distribution of broadcast-quality video over the Internet, in addition to a Web-based catalog, previews and community features. "Cable and satellite fundamentally changed the way television was distributed by creating the capacity for greater choice in programming," said Eisner. "Veoh revolutionizes television again by leveraging the Internet to expand broadcast capacity to the point that every single user, whether an individual or a media company, can create their own 'channel' and every 'channel' can be supported by its own business model."

La Jolla, Calif. -- Veoh Networks, a developer of peer-to-peer TV delivery technology, announced on Wednesday that it has raised an undisclosed amount in its first round of venture capital financing, led by Shelter Capital Partners. Once Veoh's software is installed on users' PCs, they may then send and receive TV-quality, full-screen video over a secure peer-to-peer network. La Jolla, Calif.-based Veoh was founded in 2004 by Dmitry Shapiro, who developed peer-to-peer security software that is now used to regulate applications including BitTorrent and Grokster. "Today, thousands of video producers are creating innovative, entertaining, informative and provocative television content that is never slotted for broadcast over traditional television networks," said Shapiro. "Veoh provides an open system that allows producers to distribute their content directly to consumers, bypassing the traditional hurdles of getting 'picked up' by a major television network." A beta version of Veoh's software will be available later this month.
