DirecTV to Offer Multi-Camera Feeds for Top NASCAR Drivers

El Segundo, Calif. - Satellite TV provider DirecTV announced on Wednesday that it has signed a three-year deal with NASCAR to offer its subscribers five unique channels with multiple camera feeds that will follow different top NASCAR drivers during each race.

Bentonville, Ark. - Retail giant Wal-Mart on Tuesday announced the beta launch of a new movie download service that offers consumers the option to add a video download with the purchase of a movie on DVD.

Redmond, Wash. - Microsoft on Tuesday announced a number of deals that will allow it to offer over 1,000 hours of TV shows and movies for download to its Xbox 360 video game console.

Akimbo Adds Movielink Titles to Internet-based VOD Service

Santa Monica, Calif. - Akimbo, the provider of an Internet-based video-on-demand service, announced on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with studio-backed movie download site Movielink, to make films available for download to the RCA Akimbo Player. Hundreds of Movielink titles will be available for rental for between $0.99 and $4.99, and can be downloaded over a broadband connection to the $199 RCA Akimbo Player set-top box for viewing on a television.

AOL Video Adds Downloadable Movies from Paramount Pictures

Dulles, Va. - AOL announced on Monday that it has added films and TV shows from Viacom's Paramount Pictures to the offering on its AOL Video portal. New releases, TV specials, library hits and cult favorites will be available for download for between $9.99 and $19.99 per movie. AOL also said it added content from BlueHighways TV, The Employment & Careers Channel, The Hip Hop Hall of Fame, MyPath TV and Plum to AOL Video, which features over 50 video-on-demand channels that combine free and download-to-own programming.

NBC to Sell TV Shows for 95 Cents via Cablevision VOD

New York - NBC announced on Wednesday a video-on-demand agreement with cable TV provider Cablevision. Under the terms, NBC will offer series including "Law & Order: SVU," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "The Office," "Friday Night Lights" and "Las Vegas" on Cablevision's video-on-demand service the day after they first air on NBC. Episodes will sell for 95 cents each -- a discount from the 99 cents the same shows sell for on iTunes.

Silver Spring, Md. - Discovery Communications announced on Tuesday that it has made content from its networks, including the Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet, available for purchase and download from Apple's iTunes Store. Episodes of "Shark Week," "Mythbusters" and other programs will be available for $1.99 each. Maryland-based Discovery also recently launched several broadband channels, and plans to debut a 24-hour mobile TV network in the third quarter of 2006.
