WPP Group, the UK ad holding concern and LiveWorld, the Los Gatos, Calif., company that builds online communities, appointed Alex Norman, as Chief Executive of their recently formed joint venture, LiveWorld-WPP. Norman, who will be based in New York, previoulsy was Senior Marketing Director of Endeavor Marketing.

San Francisco - VideoEgg, a provider of online video-sharing technology, announced on Thursday that it has raised $12 million in its third round of venture capital financing. Maveron led the investment round; previous investors August Capital and First Round Capital also participated. San Francisco-based VideoEgg provides an online video player, similar to the player on YouTube, which allows users of sites like Bebo, Hi5, AOL, Dogster, Tagged and Current TV to upload and embed their personal videos on those sites. The company will use the funds for product development and to expand its recently launched advertising network, the Eggnetwork.

San Francisco - VideoEgg, a provider of Web-based video publishing technology, announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with a number of social networking sites to allow users to embed video into their profiles. Users of Bebo, Dogster, Hi5, AOL, Current.tv and Tagged can upload videos to VideoEgg, which are then distributed through a content delivery network powered by Akamai to the Flash-based VideoEgg Player.

San Francisco - VideoEgg, a San Francisco-based developer of Web-based video publishing tools, said that it has acquired Popcast, a maker of software for viewing and broadcasting Internet TV channels. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. VideoEgg said that several senior members of Popcast's development team will join the company. "Our acquisition of Popcast will accelerate VideoEgg's development plans," said Matt Sanchez, the CEO of VideoEgg. VideoEgg's technology is designed to simplify the process of posting videos on the web.

San Francisco - VideoEgg, a San Francisco-based developer of web-based video publishing tools, said on Wednesday that it has landed an undisclosed amount of venture capital from August Capital. The company said that the funding, its first since receiving seed funding from First Round Capital prior to its launch in September, will be used to accelerate the development of its flagship product, as well as to expand overall marketing and business development efforts. VideoEgg's plug-in product is designed to make it easier for Internet users to encode, upload, host and watch digital video.
